DIY Chain Bra
A couple of weeks ago, one of my girlfriends from work showed me this jewelry brand called Bagatiba from LA. There was a chain bra that I immediately fell in love with. What I didn't fall in love with was the price point: $130 US for a thin simple chain bra. SOOOO, I decided I would make one myself!
I headed to a jewelry supply store on Queen W and bought everything I needed for under $25.
What you'll need:
- 2 m of chain (I got a really thin Cuban type link, but you can obviously get whatever thickness and chain type you like!)
- Jewelry pliers
- Lobster claws (again, I prefer lobster claw closures, but you can get whatever kind you like!)
I started with measuring the piece of chain that would go around my bust and attached a link and a lobster claw to the ends. That's your starting point.
Then, I made the triangles that would act as your "cup". Two links at the base and one at the top to join the neck piece.
I made it a halter so that I wouldn't have another lobster claw to close. It kind of makes it easier to put on as well!
It's really easy to tighten the links with the jewelry pliers and it took me about an hour to complete. I'm typically really bad with my arts and crafts, you all know my love/hate relationship with Pinterest haha.
This was easy enough and with all the music festivals coming up, this is a summer staple!
I think it's ignited a DIY jewelry in me - I just might buy more chain and make some more stuff! It's easy and saves tons of money on pieces that may not be timeless.
Let me know if you've ever made anything and tag me on social so I can see your creations!
Until next time,
